Assemble a video slideshow

Slideshow videos are images and brief text flowing across the screen with a musical background. Easily assembled in any video editing and many photo editing programs. Picasa (free from Google), for example, will make a slide show and allow you to add text and music.

Step 1—Storyboard

Lay out your photographs and historical images and documents in a logical order—age progression, series of events, etc. If you don’t have access to print copies of photos, make a contact sheet, cut it so you have individual images.

Plan on 15-20 images per minute.

Still match edit

Match clips Without disrupting the order, group images that relate to each other and are predominately dark or predominately light in color together. That will give you smoother transitions and prevent that flicker effect. If you will have total motion control, plan the layout and motion so that the focal point is at the same point for adjacent images. When that isn’t possible, use a close-up image that fills the frame for a transition.

IMPORT IMAGES INTO PROJECT:  Prep your photos for video and put them in a photo designated for the video project.
